Höllentalklamm (“Hell’s Valley Gorge”)Starting point is the hiker’s car park near Hammersbach/Grainau. The climb to the Höllentalangerhütte lodge (approx. 3 Std.) ascends a 445 m elevation gain (closed in winter). Every step is an exhilarating experience of the untamed forces of the water gushing through the ravines until the valley widens and you arrive at the Höllentalangerhütte lodge below the Zugspitze. For children 5 and up.

Partnachklamm

Partnachklamm

Partnachklamm (“Partnach Gorge”) Starting point is the car park at the Olympic Ski Stadium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Walk up or take a horse-drawn carriage (approx. 30 min) to the entrance. The gorge is roughly 700 m long along an awe-inspiring path carved into the solid rock above the churning torrents of water. Particularly suitable for families (valley gorge), easily accessible. For children 3 and up.

Most convenient way to visit is by rail – just 1 hour, 40 minutes from Klais. Once at Munich’s main railway station, you can stroll the pedestrian zone all the way to Marienplatz and on into the Englischer Garten. Olympic Park and the Deutsche Museum are just two examples of the countless sites of interest Munich has to offer, as is also the Tierpark Hellabrunn zoo – always a treat for young and old.

The western Karwendel peak (2384 m) makes for a stunning vantage point, offering you an incomparable view of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountain chains, the valleys of the Isar and the Inn, the far Stubai Central Alps ridges as well as the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills and lake region. The Karwendelbahn gondola in Mittenwald carries you right to the mountain station (2244 m) at the heart of these commanding high mountains. Be sure not to miss the newly opened Nature Exhibit Centre.
