Bike tours near the campsite

Bike tours for every requirement …

The Alpenwelt Karwendel is the ideal starting point for mountain bike and bike tours for “young and old”. More leisurely tours can be found in the valley between flower meadows, swimming lakes and the wide river landscapes of the Isar with its gravel and gravel banks. The forested promontory convinces with its shady forest roads and single trails in the Ester Mountains and near the Soierngruppe. Mountain bike tours in the Karwendel and Wetterstein, or a tour around the mountain chains are physically demanding and impress with their alpine panorama. Even locals are always enthusiastic about the diverse possibilities of the Alpine world.

Eschenlainetal – loop

A 65 km loop with approx. 500 m elevation gain. From your campsite to Wallgau and on toward Einsiedel am Walchensee. Once you pass the Obernach water research centre, veer onto the wooden bridge to your left and onto the logging road. Follow the signs to Eschenlainetal; after about 20 minutes, you’ll crest the ridge. Descend from here through a little stream, past a small lake and over a waterfall until you begin to exit downward out the valley alongside the brook. Once in Eschenlohe below, keep left of the Loisach to ride over its seven sources to Farchant and then on to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From Partenkirchen, continue on the old road toward Schlattan and then stay on the cycling path to Kaltenbrunn, Gerold and Klais until you’re back at Tennsee. You also have the option of returning to Klais from Eschenlohe or Garmisch-Partenkirchen by rail.

Isar Valley cycling loops

Choose from amongst numerous mountain bike cycling loops in close proximity.

You have a number of cycling options around Barmsee lake, to Wallgau or Mittenwald, along the Isar river and even a fully-maintained cycling path to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Because our high valley is so wide, our cycling paths were laid out relatively flat. If you ride out to Mittenwald or Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you can easily return to Klais and our campground by railway. Special cycling maps for all age groups are available at the reception.
There’s a lot of ground to cover here!
